The exhibition was inaugurated by Kim Wyman, secretary of state for Washington State, and Zhang Wei, president of the China Braille Press—a publishing operation serving 17 million people in China.

The “Chinese and American Braille Publications Exchange Activity” is taking place at the Washington Talking Book & Braille Library downtown, representing a milestone in bilateral cooperation.
Guo Weimin, vice minister of the Information Office of China's State Council, heralded the social significance of the initiative.
"Braille publications provide the basis for those with visual disabilities to obtain equal education opportunities, share the achievements of civilization, and fully participate in society,” Guo said.
“This exhibit demonstrates both the importance of Braille worldwide and the developing partnerships between China and the United States regarding services for people who are blind or visually impaired."
The event covers topics such as braille publication in the digital age,China Ebay famous blind people in the US and China, and education and cultural exchange.
