Battle commences at the picturesque Mont-San-Michel in the Manche
department before the riders head south to the Pyrenees.
On Bastille Day - July 14th, the field heads up to Mont Ventoux - which
returns to the Tour itinerary for the first time since 2013 - and twists through
the Alps before heading to the finish line in Paris.
Spain, Andorra and Switzerland will all be visited on the 3,520-kilometre
course, which will cover 28 categorized climbs and includes two individual time
trials. The race gets underway July second and finishes on the 24th of the
month.
"I think it's, it's a great parkour (course) for the next year's Tour de
France. I think it really does challenge in every aspect of cycling. The time
trials, the mountains.... tricky technical descent also. So, I mean it really is
going to take a complete cyclist to win next year's Tour de France," said Chris
Froome, two-time Tour De France champion.
Tour De France director
Christian Prudhomme said, "It is true that for those who are physically strong,
they are not too sure about their nerves, who are afraid of pressure can falter,
having a major stage starting from day five, well that will take the pressure
off, because they will not be so close to the pack, because the differences
between riders will be already established. I believe that this Tour is for
those who dare."China Ebay
